Our Story
Hello tea friend my name is Avril, I am the founder at Yellow Bird Teas & Blue Bramble Teahouse. My passion is creating, whether it be baking a super tasty Victoria Sponge for our teahouse & cafe, or creating and mixing some delicate flavours for Yellow Bird Tea’s. It gives me a feeling of fulfilment to think that maybe I have just made a difference to someone’s day, that is what hits that spot for me. I created Yellow Bird Teas as I adore the history of tea and how it has evolved through time, from my Granny sitting with a pot permanently on the stove for all and sundry to enjoy whilst having a good natter, to today where our world has some of the finest tea plantations growing over 20,000 different types of tea. That’s a lot of tea chats!
The Bake Shop was inspired by our passion to bake deliciousness. We want you to enjoy our home baked products anywhere and anytime. We will always try to deliver the best quality and taste that fine home cooking can provide.
Our story with tea started in a simple little teahouse called Blue Bramble on Whitley Bay High Street, where we nested in the majestic coastal town and brought our dream to life. We would take great pleasure in serving up the tea just the way Granny would those many years ago always loose leaf, of course, somehow it always tasted better. Granny would have an array of sweet treats too.
Founded in 2018, Blue Bramble Teahouse has become one of the main local independent eateries in the coastal town of Whitley Bay. When Blue Bramble first started the passion was to bring good quality ingredients together and create the delights of yesteryear for you all to enjoy.
What makes us unique is our ever changing recipes, this enables us to know what our customers want before they do.
We wanted to take our teahouse to the next level after all tea is a generational thing. Tea has evolved so much through the years there are over 20,000 different varieties of tea although we can’t bring them all to you, well not all at once anyway, we can source the right tea for you and your family to enjoy and indulge just at the click of a button. Rest assured also we will help you do your bit for our amazing planet. We use eco friendly packaging & no excess baggage from us.
We will always use Ethically sourced tea, this way we are contributing to a fairer, more sustainable tea industry for the tea workers and their families as well as the environment.
